  1. INTRODUCTION

  3. This is a new release of our Macintosh shareware product NameViewer, an
  4. open dialog extension that allows the display of most of the file or folder
  5. information from within any application's Open dialog  (this includes any
  6. Import, Place or similar dialog).

  8. OBLIGATIONS

  10. You may copy this for anyone or post it on electronic bulletin boards or
  11. shareware disks but you may not charge for it (other than normal download
  12. costs or disk duplication costs.  Please keep the entire package (INIT,
  13. the User's guide and this Document) together.

  15. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  17. This demo and the product requires System 6.0.4 or later and is System
  18. 7.0 compatible and aware.  It will work on any Mac from a Mac Plus and above.

  20. INSTALLING NAMEVIEWER

  22. This is the easiest part.  Simply drag the Nameviewer icon onto your
  23. System folder and restart your machine.  You are ready to begin using
  24. Nameviewer!

  26. SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONALITY

  28. NameViewer extends the bottom of an Open dialog by a small amount and then
  29. displays the full 31 character name of the selected file, folder or disk and, optionally,
  30. the modification date, time, creator code, file type code, size in bytes or K on disk,
  31. number of contained files & folders (for folders), number of files & folder on a disk
  32. and the available and free space (for disks) and finally, the name of the application
  33. that would be opened if the document is double-clicked.

  35. The application name is obtained from a table contained within NameViewer so
  36. the application need not be present on your disk to find out its name.  The table
  37. is able to be modified and extended by each user to add application names that
  38. are not built into NameViewer.

  40. The setting of options and namelist modification is done from the NameViewer
  41. control panel.

  43. Refer to the User's Guide (which is a self printing/viewing document, just
  44. double-click it) for more detailed information, although you probably will
  45. not need the guide to use and enjoy NameViewer.

  47. HOW ABOUT PAYMENTS

  49. Nameviewer is shareware at $15 per user.  If you have previously paid a
  50. shareware registration fee for a previous release of NameViewer, this
  51. release is a free upgrade.

  53. NameViewer is available from many user groups, electronic bulletin boards
  54. such as GEnie, Compserve, AppleLink, America On-Line and others, from
  55. the USENET archives and directly from AStar.  Quantity discounts are available;
